English Championships 2025

1st-2nd March – Telford International Centre

Eight of Woking’s MAG gymnasts competed in the English Championships, the first competition of the season and first on the new code of points.

Saturday morning began with the under 18 competition. Luke Everett and Oliver Porter both enjoyed good competitions. Despite a few errors Oli finished 5th place AA (71.000) picking up a bronze medal for his rings routine. Luke was 14th AA (62.650), both gymnasts have successfully qualified a spot for the upcoming British Championships.

In the senior category Jamie Lewis showed everyone how hard he has been working since coming back from injury and won the all-around competition by nearly 3 marks. His total of 82.25 is highest score in the world this year! Completing his routines with composure he also won silver on Floor and Rings, bronze on Pommels and was crowned English champion on H-Bar. Rudi Moriano was also competing in the senior category, placing 25th with a score of 65.800.

Mac Griffiths and Fionn Kelly had a close fought battle in the U14 competition. Both successfully competed their new vaults and could hardly be separated across the six apparatus. Mac (62.400) edged Fionn (62.250) in the all-around standings finishing 27th and 28th, respectively.

The final competition of the weekend was the U16 event. Max Veo-Creek and Jay Coote competed some upgraded routines, despite a few falls there were lots of positives to be taken. Max placed 15th with 61.600. Jay’s all-around total of 61.000 put him in 18th place, he was also awarded the silver medal for his performance on vault.

Well done to all gymnasts involved and good luck to those who will be competing in the British Championships later in March.
