MUMMY AND BABY PILATES CLASS

We are excited to be able to offer a brand-new class at Woking Gymnastics Club. Our ‘Mummy and baby Pilates class’ is a Physio led post-natal Pilates class for mums wanting to build their strength after pregnancy and delivery.

 

My name is Julia and I am a qualified physio with over 18 years’ experience working primarily with Musculoskeletal Injuries within the NHS and more recently for the MOD. I have used Pilates exercises in my practice for a number of years, and have experience working with ladies both during pregnancy and post-natally. As a mum myself to 2 young girls, I know all too well the changes our bodies go through during pregnancy, delivery and in the months following birth, and therefore        understand the importance of strengthening our core and pelvic floor muscles.

 

My goal is to provide an opportunity for ladies to exercise, building strength in these areas alongside their babies in a safe environment whilst meeting other like-minded mothers. Our classes will be kept small to allow for 1:1 attention through the class and ensure you are exercising with the correct technique. By allowing babies into the class, it enables you to have the much needed ‘me’ time whilst navigating the demanding schedule of your little ones. If you need to tend to your baby in any way through the class, this is absolutely fine.

 

Babies are welcome from 8 weeks* until they are crawling, although if you have a new crawler who will be happy to play near you with toys during the class, please just let us know. Please bring an exercise mat for yourself and a blanket for your baby. Food and drinks are not usually allowed in the gym space but we are able to make an exception for spill proof water bottles (containing water only) so as to not damage the gym floor if spilt.

 

Prior to commencing the class, we will ask you to confirm that you have had your post-natal check with the GP and they have approved you to commence exercise. We also require you to complete a screening checklist prior to your first session.

*Please note that following a Caesarean Section it is recommended that you wait 10-12 weeks prior to commencing general exercise. However, if you feel ready from 8 weeks and have GP approval you are welcome to join.

Cost: 

£15 per class, or reduced rate of £13 per class if full term package booked

What to Bring:

  1. Own mat

  2. Mat for baby

  3. Water only in non drip bottle

 

Upon booking you will receive a Health screening checklist. This must be completed before the start of your first session. All details will be kept confidential and secure.
